Know what you're choosing.
At Terrachi, our jewellery is made from precious metals including sterling silver and 9ct gold, alongside gold-plated sterling silver.
Precious metals have a natural connection to the earth, and this is reflected in the Terrachi name and the materials at the heart of our collections.
Sterling Silver
Our sterling silver jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver, an alloy containing at least 92.5% pure silver.
Silver naturally develops a patina over time as it reacts with the environment. This is normal and can usually be restored with appropriate silver cleaning and care.
9ct Gold
Our 9ct gold jewellery is made from solid 9ct gold rather than gold plating. 9ct gold contains 37.5% pure gold, combined with other metals to provide strength and create its distinctive colour and finish.
With the right care, solid gold jewellery can be enjoyed for many years.
Gold Plated Sterling Silver
Our gold plated jewellery has a sterling silver base finished with a layer of gold. Unlike jewellery plated over base metals, the piece beneath the plating remains sterling silver.
Gold plating will naturally wear over time. How quickly this happens varies depending on how often the jewellery is worn and its exposure to water, perfumes, cosmetics, chemicals and everyday wear.
Hallmarking
A hallmark is an independent guarantee of the precious metal content of an item. In accordance with UK hallmarking law, precious metal jewellery that exceeds the statutory exemption weight must carry a recognised hallmark.
Items below the relevant exemption weight are not legally required to carry a hallmark. Where required, Terrachi jewellery will be hallmarked in accordance with UK legislation.
Natural Variations
Precious metals are not completely immune to changes in appearance. Minor variations in colour, finish and surface appearance can occur through wear and are part of the natural characteristics of jewellery.
